Bodies...the 'sensual' Exhibition

I finally made it down to see the "Bodies" exhibit last week. For a science geek like myself, I was totally mesmerized by the display of the intricacies of the human body. More importantly, however, you cannot see that exhibit and leave without feeling immense awe and gratitude for your miraculous body and health. I highly recommend you take the opportunity to see it if you are able!

One of the things I found really interesting was that all of the bodies were male except for two - one was a woman in the Human Reproduction Room - and the other was a woman who was obese. All of the male bodies were doing things athletic or quotidian, but this woman in the Human Reproduction Room had her eyelashes added back and was posed in a very inviting way.

At first I thought, "Oh, of course they would portray us sexually only, blah blah blah"---- insert post modern feminist rhetoric here ;) ---but then I got to thinking about it; being a woman is a sensual experience. And all of us, men and women, need to allow ourselves to FEEL. How many women come in to our practice having divorced themselves from feelings, all in the name of success or fitting in? And all of you who have done so are wreaking havoc on your reproductive, sexual and hormonal health! Begin allowing yourself to feel how you're feeling! Practicing this kind of self-knowing, self-acknowledgement, and self-checking-in IS a sensual, of-the-body experience that is the best way to make your life turn out the way you want more quickly.

This week's post is all about the ways in which your body might be telling you that you're overtaxed from stress and hormonal issues via the lymphatic system. How fantastic, then, after reading the post, you'll forever know that when you're feeling chronically bloated, you don't have to beat yourself up, criticize yourself, tell yourself how awful you look, but react with an, "oh, it's my lymph!" and take care of it right away with the suggestions provided below? To me, that's a woman in her power, that's a woman who makes things happen for herself, and THAT is a sensual way to live!
